Bullpen is good

A casual 2,000 hits
There are moments in a dumb 162-game season where you feel like you may never win another game and there are an equal number where you feel you may never lose.

This is the latter. Some galvanizing-ass shit.

The Texas Rangers fought back from a 7-2 deficit to win in 11 innings, 8-7. It was a crazy, crazy night.

First and foremost, Derek Holland lasted all of 1.2 innings no thanks to an Elvis Andrus error on teh simplest of plays that would have ended the inning. Instead, Holland couldn't get another out surrending a two-run double to Carlos Santana.

The Rangers bullpen did the deed:

9.1 IP - 8 hits - 1 run - 3 walks - 7 strikeouts.

If that were anyone one player's line, we'd be ecstatic. Instead it's the collective line of Scooter Feldman, Yoshi Tateyama, Mark Lowe, Mike Adams and Neftali Feliz. They were brilliant. Beyond brilliant. In two consecutive games, the Rangers showed what a good bullpen can do with a lead (shut it down) or with a seemingly insurmountable deficit (keep you in it).

The Rangers offense returned to the friendly confines of the Ballpark and clawed their way back. A run here and a run there. It was tied by a Michael Young, two-out, ballsy-as-all-hell home run in the bottom of the ninth.

It was won in typical Rangers fashion: Two outs, Elvis Andrus gets on with a bunt single. Goes to second on a wild pitch. And Josh Hamilton beats out the grounder to short (sliding!) and Andrus never quit running from second. First basman naps. Andrus scores. Ballgame.

Notes:
1. One that guy that feels good: Holland. Not only did his bullpen and offense pick him up, but he's not even a footnote in the story.

2. Mike Napoli: nine-game hit streak, 17 hits in nine games, five home runs in seven games and a six-game RBI streak.

3. Neftali Feliz threw 11 pitches to get five outs.

4. Michael Young is sitting at 1,997 hits.

5. It still astounds me that Yorvit Torrealba may be the hottest hitter on the team. Knocked his 22nd double of the season tonight. Tied for fourth on the team with Josh Hamilton and Nellie Cruz.

6. Michael Young tied Adrian Beltre for the team lead in RBI with 76.
