Arkin asylum
Bill Nagy is out, Felix Jones is out, Derrick Dockery is out. It's not the Dallas Cowboys. It's an infirmary.

With the general idea of fielding a capable and walking football team, the Cowboys have been very busy making a series of roster moves, some of which I find a little odd.

Where On Earth Is David Arkin?
Remember him? The fourth-rounder that turned heads in Training Camp after starting the pre-season game against Denver and performing quite adequately? Well, he's fallen off the face of the Earth. He's currently on the roster, but buried. He's been passed up by Kevin "Killer" Kowalski and even after the injuries to Nagy and Dockery, he's still in the doghouse as the Cowboys have signed Montrae Holland and someone named Daniel Loper. As Todd Archer is calling it, it's a redshirt season for Arkin. What I don't get is this: I understand letting Arkin sit in lieu of, say, Nagy or even a veteran like Dockery, but how is Arkin any better or worse than ol' fat Holland or Loper?

Dwayne Harris: A Casaulty Of The Times
My how the mighty have fallen. In the pre-season, Harris, the team's dreadlocked sixth-round pick caught about 200-yards worth of passes against Denver. High times. Now the punt returner and receiver is jobless. To bring in Loper, they cut Harris with the intentions of re-signing him to the practice squad. Despite getting plenty of opportunities in the return game -- to minimal success -- Harris never worked his way into the offense despite injuries to Dez Bryant and Miles Austin and ineffectiveness from Kevin Ogletree. Again, it's odd that Harris was never given a shot. Maybe he never learned the offense. Maybe he can't run a route or catch a ball (seemed to do OK in that pre-season game). Then, you must ask why he was even drafted in the first place.

Remember: The Cowboys are where they're at because of personnel.
