In 24 hours, Adrian Beltre padded his trophy room.

Beltre earned Silver Slugger and Golden Glove awards. Totally deserved on Beltre's part. I expect him to be top five in MVP voting when that comes out.

I also don't typically put a lot of weight into these awards. They are fine and from year to year I have zero problem with them only because I largely ignore them.

What gets my goat this year is Ian Kinsler getting snubbed at second base. Nothing against Dustin Pedroia and I certainly saw 50 percent less of him than I did Kinsler. But the latter was simply spectacular in the field this season, probably the best in his career.

Meanwhile, the Red Sox get three representatives. The World Series-bound Rangers get one.

This is why I don't care.

The Rangers did a little cleaning up outrighting Andres Blanco, Omar Beltre, Darren O'Day, Merkin Valdez, Eric Hurley and Esteban German.

All but O'Day cleared waivers.

O'Day was picked up by the Baltimore Orioles. It's clear the Rangers lost a lot of faith in O'Day and certainly it's not guaranteed he won't wind up back on the scrap pile. It's how he became a Ranger in the first place.

What's most shocking about this story are the ages. Beltre is 30. Blanco is 27 and Hurley 26. No way I would have guessed those guy being younger than Beltre and I would've pegged Hurley as 29 or 30.

The Rangers now have 32 on the 40-man roster in preparation, I assume for acquisitions and putting guys on to avoid the Rule V Draft.

Darren Oliver said he expects to pitch again next year citing the "bad taste" in his mouth. If there is blame to go around after the Rangers' debacle, Oliver's steered clear of most. Remember, he had the ass of the order to pitch to in order to WIN GAME 6 and he couldn't do it.

And if you read his quote the right way, it's almost assumed that he'll return to the Rangers. I'm not entirely sure. Not that he wasn't productive. Just how is this team's head? Do they want the band back together for another tour? Does there need to be new blood and is dumping the senior member the best way to infuse more?
