Bedlam on that guy's head
For the first time ever, the Big XII will not have a conference championship game.

Yet, in this final week of college football, there might be the most important game of the year in the conference. A sort of de facto conference championship.

It's Bedlam. It's Oklahoma versus Oklahoma State.

Several things are up for grabs: In-state bragging rights, recruiting power, pride, the Big XII title and, most importantly for one team, a possible national championship.

Oklahoma State is ranked third in the BCS rankings. In the BCS computer rankings themselves, Alabama (No. 2) has a narrow lead, which could easily be made up with a win against Oklahoma, which would give Okie State wins against OU, Baylor, Kansas State, Missouri and Texas, all of which are in the top 25. Beating Arizona and Tulsa non-conference doesn't hurt things.

Where Oklahoma State could make up a ton of space is in the Harris and USA Today polls. The Cowboys are ranked fifth in each ... fifth with the BCS computers bumping them to third.

Third-ranked Stanford does not play. Fourth-ranked Virginia Tech plays Clemson in the ACC conference championship. Could a win against Oklahoma bump Okie State above an inactive Stanford? Possibly.

What could really help are two factors:

Beating The Shit Out Of Oklahoma
Certainly the Pokes don't want to count their chickens before they hatch, but if they have the opportunity to take a 14-point lead and turn it into a 28-point lead with some "fuck you" touchdowns in trash time, they will. They will never stop trying to score.

The Thought That Alabama Had Their Shot
I don't know how voters in these polls consider things outside of a box score or a preconceived notion of a team (just look at Craig James' rankings). I think they view the Cowboys as a gimmick. Mostly, I think coaches and pundits want a LSU-Alabama rematch no matter how good Alabama actual is or isn't or how good Oklahoma State is or isn't. However, maybe there's those that disagree with that notion. Then again, why would they have Stanford and Virginia Tech in front of Oklahoma State?

Anyway, it'll be a fun game, as always, and it'll be really cool to see Oklahoma State to win and get into the big game.

****
Texas vs. Baylor
Who had Oklahoma State, Baylor and Kansas State atop the Big XII standings? Nobody, that's who. Now, who has Texas in the top 25 right now? Gay morons, that's who. Since win do 7-win teams who can't score get into the top 25? Baylor will win this handily in front of a home crowd and end a fantastic season.

Iowa State vs. Kansas State
Getting 10 wins, a top 15 BCS ranking and a sweet bowl would be huge for the Wildcats and Bill Snyder. Don't count out the Cyclones. They've kicked a number of teams in the crotch (ahem, Oklahoma State) and they take no pride in being the Big XII's kid brother. They're feisty.

TCU vs. UNLV
TCU is 107-30 with Gary Patterson. What he's done to the Horned Frogs this season -- when things were supposed to come back to Earth -- is simply remarkable. The Frogs should roll UNLV and notch another 10-win season.

Middle Tennessee State vs. North Texas
North Texas hasn't won or lost two straight games since late September when they started 0-3. To be perfectly fair, they started the season playing Alabama and Houston. Going .500 in conference for a program on the rebound isn't nothing to turn your nose up to.
