Robbie Ross: Welcome
I love Ron Washington. I think he's genuine and guileless. Last week he was interviewed by The Hardline and as a parting message to the radio world, he implored the fandom to not freak out over the outcomes of the Rangers' Spring Training slate.

What's weird is that Washington probably isn't listening to sports radio or reading online gauging fan response to the Rangers' troubles in winning games.

Instead, Wash sort of knows how antsy everyone's feeling, that everyone probably is freaking out a little over losing to the Diamondbacks with Greg Reynolds or Mark Hamburger pitching. In his way, he knows how and when to say the right thing.

****
Yu Darvish pitched an intersquad game the other day going five innings allowing six hits, four runs and 11 strikeouts. The control was there as he threw a lot of strikes. Problem is, many of them stayed up in the strike zone for too long.

****
Matt Harrison and Derek Holland are continuing their torrid spring pace. The pair, combined: 19 IP - 12 hits - 4 runs - 1 BB - 14 Ks. Honestly, the prospect of Matt Harrison getting better over last season is more tantalizing. If he rounds into a true, consistent No. 2 or 3 starter for the next four years the Rangers will be stupendously good.

****
Greg Reynolds is refusing to go away. The veteran spring invite started the other day: 5 IP - 2 hits - 1 run - 0 BB - 4 Ks. For the spring: 12 IP - 9 hits - 5 runs - 1 BB - 8 Ks. Where does that guy fit?

****
Mitch "Bunk" Moreland had four hits over the weekend. Hard to imagine this offense if he figures somethings out.

****
I can't figure out who's having a worse spring:

Koji Uehara
6.1 IP - 10 hits - 10 runs - 3 BB - 6 Ks

Joe Nathan
5 IP - 8 hits - 8 runs - 3 BB - 4 Ks

Michael Kirkman
10.1 IP - 16 hits - 12 runs - 2 BB - 6 Ks

For the record, Uehara had a scoreless frame Sunday. For once.

****
Robbie Ross' train is gaining steam. Had another three good innings over the weekend. Hasn't allowed a run in seven spring innings.

****
Yoshi Tateyama is having an anti-Uehara spring: 7 IP - 5 hits - 1 run - 1 BB - 8 Ks.

****
Josh Hamilton had four hits over the weekend.

****
Julio Borbon has 10 hits and seven walks.
