Jeets: Hard to get out
Who do the Texas Rangers think they are? Losing, 7-4 to the stinkin' New York Yankees.

It's an odd feeling. It was the Rangers' first good whipping of the season and they've been beat by Justin Verlander and CC Sabathia in the span of three days.

Yeah, it was a mess. Derek Holland was not good, yet, he battled. He went six innings and saved the bullpen for another night. Basically, if you want to pin it on one guy, he couldn't get Derek Jeter out, who went 4-4 against Holland and scored two runs and drove in another on a double.

Despite the two first-inning runs, the Rangers got hits from Ian Kinsler and Elvis Andrus to start the bottom of the first, which was nullified by a Josh Hamilton double play.

Holland held the Yankee horde off from the second through fourth innings as the Rangers offense continually got runners on, but couldn't get them home. It wasn't until a late 2-RBI double from Craig Gentry that the Rangers got a meaningful hit.

Holland's big gift was a three-run bomb from Alex Rodriguez.

Missed opportunities on offense. Lack of control in the pitching. An error. You get beat. That's the way baseball go, I guess.

The good news is that Mark Lowe and Koji Uehara came in and allowed no baserunners in three innings, striking out five. It not only saved the rest of the bullpen, but you have to start looking at both guys turning a corner. Lowe's not allowed a thing all year, just two hits, no runs and no walks. And although Uehara's allowed the two home runs, he's wound up still striking out seven and walking none.

It continues the bullpen's brilliance. Just three walked batsmen in 158 chances. Opponents have a .228 on-base percentage against the Rangers bullpen.
