Projecting Cowboys mediocrity

The NFL announced the schedules for the 2012-13 season.

For the Dallas Cowboys, it doesn't look good. It's Wednesday. Nothing to do. Let's project!!

Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants
Like ripping a Band-Aid off, it's sometimes better to get it over with.

Prediction: Loss

Dallas Cowboys at Seattle Seahawks
Who did the Cowboys piss off to get two tough road games back to back to start the season on different coasts?

Prediction: Loss

Dallas Cowboys vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The home opener. A pretty bad team with a new coach and a lot of new players. Down 0-2 already, the Cowboys rise up, snatch one.

Prediction: Win

Dallas Cowboys vs. Chicago Bears
Don't sleep on the Bears. Finished 8-8. Were 6-3 before Jay Cutler got hurt. Still beatable in that weird Dallas Cowboy kind of way.

Prediction: Win

Bye Week
Early, for the second straight season. I always like my bye weeks later in the season so that you can build some momentum and allow guys to get a little better and then hit the week off. NFL taking revenge for the Cowboys frontloading contracts in capless year?

Dallas Cowboys at Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens are the better team and at home.

Prediction: Loss

Dallas Cowboys at Carolina Panthers
The good news: You're six weeks in and half your road schedule is done ... and all four games have been really tough. I think the Panthers are as good as the Cowboys on neutral field. This is, however, a silly game that the Cowboys wind up winning.

Prediction: Win

Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants
I guess the NFL doesn't see the Cowboys competing in the NFC East. Typically, these showdowns happen later in the season. Giants have tough season. Will get wins where they can. And do you know how much Eli Manning loves playing the Cowboys? Do you!?

Prediction: Loss

Dallas Cowboys at Atlanta Falcons
Always take Matt Ryan at home.

Prediction: Loss

Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles
Seriously. Jerry Jones had to have taken Roger Goodell's mom out to dinner and didn't call back. Another tough set of roadies. Give me the desperate team (the Eagles will be better, I think). Plus, it's November and Tony Romo is awesome in November.

Prediction: Win

Dallas Cowboys vs. Cleveland Browns
November. Browns. At home. I can almost smell the Thanksgiving turkey.

Prediction: Win

Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Redskins
RGIII. The ultimate X-factor. Will he storm out of the gates like Cam Newton. Will he need time? Does he dazzle in front of the nation on Thanksgiving? Cowboys always split with the Redskins and they always win on Thanksgiving.

Prediction: Win

Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles
It's December. The Cowboys are 6-5. Zero way this turns out well.

Prediction: Loss

Dallas Cowboys at Cincinnati Bengals
The Cowboys will A) wind up 3-5 on the road and B) this is the annual "The Cowboys need a big road win to keep pace in the NFC East" game. And consider that the Bengals were not good at home in 2011 (4-4) and have the Cowboys' secondary from 2008.

Prediction: Win

Dallas Cowboys vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Guaranteed: 50,000 Steelers fans in Cowboys Stadium.

Prediction: Loss

Dallas Cowboys vs. New Orleans Saints
"Hey! The Cowboys have gone through a really tough schedule with some killer road games (Baltimore, New York, Philly, Seattle, Atlanta) and are 7-7, but, man, if they can just get to nine wins they should be able to get into the playoffs and then you never know!"

Prediction: Loss

Dallas Cowboys at Washington Redskins
RGIII gets his revenge. Cowboys with nothing to play for.

Prediction: Loss

The final word: 7-9. But it's April.
