Don't worry, Rick, the Mavs know how to take care of their own
Boy, you want some good reading, start reading everything there is to read about the Dallas Mavericks.

It's a fucking mess.

It doesn't feel that management, coaches and the players are on the same page at all. It doesn't sound there's a lot of trust between the three parties and it really doesn't feel like the three parties will be together much longer.

Mark Cuban on Rick Carlisle
On his dumbass StairMaster, owner and general manager Mark Cuban had this to say when asked about why Rick Carlisle hadn't been tendered an extension:

"I don’t talk about free-agent coaches or otherwise. Been that way for 11 or 12 years. Want to have a long discussion about business? It’s my approach to business. It's worked out really, really well for me and I just want to be consistent."

Yes, Mark Cuban is giant, gaping asshole. Worse yet, he's a liar.

Cuban and Co. gave Avery Johnson a five-year extension in 2006, after the Mavericks choked it all away in the NBA Finals.

Why Cuban would lie or not have his shit straight is a mystery. It might because he's an incredible asshole that thinks he's above criticism from fans or media.

On Tyson Chandler
Donnie Nelson (in addition to that douche Tim Cowlishaw) stated that Tyson Chandler would not have made a difference in the Oklahoma City series. "But we also would not have won that series had he been here."

This runs contrary to basically 90 percent of all fans and at least a few Dallas Mavericks. Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry have both openly bemoaned the fact that the Mavericks did not choose to sign Tyson Chandler. This is what Shawn Marion said:

"He really just said that? Tyson does things out there a lot of guys don't do in this league. Even if he's not scoring all the time, but it's just his presence out there, his demeanor, it can carry to wins."

And that from the only Maverick that played a minute of defense the entire series. Yes, Chandler makes a huge difference in this series. For one, they probably win game 1. After that, you take your chances. Game 3 probably doesn't go down like it did, which means game 4 probably doesn't go down how it did.

I don't think Nelson or Cuban have enough fingers for every hole in this dike.

On Vision
Alarming:

Nowitzki: "I don’t know what Mark and Donnie want to do or want to go after. I heard Mark say yesterday that he doesn’t really have a plan. We’ll just have to wait and see, but usually I think that’s the goal, right? You have cap space so you can actually sign somebody decent. Hey, we’ll just have to wait and see and let this sink in."

"As the Mavericks, usually we pride ourselves over the last decade not to play for the seventh seed or the eighth seed or just to make it into the playoffs. Our goal was always to be obviously one of the top four in the West, get home court and make a deep run. That was always our goal. It’s not just making it into the playoffs."

"My lateral movement ain’t the greatest, so to have a guy next to me that covers a lot of ground, that can guard on the perimeter as well as the post and block shots … Tyson was great at that last year. It’s probably going to stay that way the rest of my career. My lateral movement probably ain’t improving from 34 to 36."

Nelson: “We’d love to have Jet back. You talk about a guy that’s given his heart and soul to this franchise, and made big plays and big shots. You would love to have him back. It’s just, at what cost?”

Nowitzki: “This team, this franchise obviously has a lot of decisions to make. That’s obvious. Rick had a great four years here obviously. He took us to the promised land with a team that probably nobody thought could do it. I think he found a good mix over the years of stressing defense a lot and giving Kidd some movement, giving him some freedom on the offensive end. Sometimes he did a good job getting out of the way and just letting us play and if he saw things are not going that well, call some plays and kind of pull us back in."

“I thought over the four years, he tried to do a good job. We’ll have to wait and see what the decision is with him, but he did a great job and obviously led us to the promised land.”
