Good luck dealing with Cox until 2020
The fascinating aspect to the Dallas Cowboys trading up to take LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne is that we spent three solid months reading dozens and dozens of mock drafts which had them taking the four or five same guys. Over and over.

If you were buying a Mark Barron road jersey in March, you might want a refund.

Here's were those mock draft fantasies went with varying amounts of surprise.

Mark Barron
7th Overall - Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Even if the Cowboys stay put, Barron wasn't getting anywhere near the 14th pick. The Bucs made some moves trading down from fifth overall to seventh and picking up a fourth-rounder from Jacksonville. The Bucs really like Barron although he rarely was taken this high in just about any drafts out there and he is a safety. Tampa Bay's defense is terrible with the 21st worst pass defense.

Dontari Poe
11th Overall - Kansas City Chiefs
Poe was merely loosely associated with the Cowboys in many mocks in which he fell below 12th overall. By any and all indications, they were not too impressed with a guy with questionable character and low motor.

Fletcher Cox
12th Overall - Philadelphia Eagles
If the Cowboys were going to trade up, most thought it would be to take Mississippi State defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, a guy not only high on the Cowboys' draft board, but also the hated Eagles. Not only did the Cowboys pass, he dropped to 12th (most had him in the top 10) and the Eagles swapped their No. 14 pick and fourth and sixth rounders to Seattle. Worse yet, the Cowboys will get to see Cox twice a year for the next decade.

Michael Brockers
14th Overall - St. Louis Rams
With the pick they swapped with the Cowboys for, the Rams took a guy on the Cowboys' radar. The LSU defensive lineman was not getting great reviews.

Quinton Coples
16th Overall - New York Jets
Leave it to the Jets to take a questionable attitude guy.

David DeCastro
24th Overall - Pittsburgh Steelers
There's a good reason the Steelers are always good, always win and always wind up kicking ass in the trenches. It's because the other 20 teams in front of them in the draft are idiots. It's a shock that DeCastro lasted into the 20s more or less to No. 24. He'll be there for a decade, racking up All-Pro selections.

Coby Fleener
34th Overall - Indianapolis Colts
Actually, only one mock had the Cowboys taking a tight end with their first pick and that was courtesy of Bill Jones in, I can only assume, a fit of insanity. Fleener was never going in the middle of the first round and he was never going to the Cowboys unless he inexplicably dropped to the fourth round. The Colts were happy to draft Andrew Luck's security blanket.

Cordy Glenn
41st Overall - Buffalo Bills
Want a sleeper pick? How about the second-best guard in the draft dipping into the second round (fourth guard taken) after spending his last several years fending off defensive tackles and blitzers in the SEC?
