Raindrops keep falling on my head
Mike Adams made an ignominious debut last night for the Texas Rangers.

He gave up the game-winning home run to Brennan Boesch in a 6-5 loss to Detroit last night.

Boesch, by the way, is turning into a lil' Ranger killer. He's batting .433 this year with three home runs and eight RBI against the Rangers.

As for Adams, shit happens. Remember, Cliff Lee opened up last year after the trade allowing six runs and three homers against the Baltimore Orioles, and I remember people thinking, "Boy, what kind of goods exactly did we get back?!?"

For Adams, it'll all even out.

I think there are bigger fish to fry here.

Colby Lewis has been flat for two starts. He's allowing a lot (hits, walks, homers, runs) and not getting a whole lot of strikeouts (13 Ks in last 17.1 IP with 30 hits and seven BBs) or outs in general. He's now allowed 27 home runs this season. It's remakably awful.

The Rangers also committed another three errors, including one on Lewis. I know that last week the Rangers led the entire world in errors by pitchers. No idea what's going on as to why this isn't being fixed.

And it was another night on the road when the Ranger offense fell flat. There's no excuse for Lewis or Adams, but for seven of nine innings the Rangers offense got nothing. If not for two homers by Nelson Cruz and Mike Napoli, this game isn't even close.

If this is a team going for the playoffs -- a team reinforced by a front office that is getting guys to help them win -- then they need to start playing like it.
