The Iron Skillet, A&M takes dump on field, Longhorns get their mojo flowing, Baylor gets nipped and SFA football does not rule.SMU 40, TCU 33
Find me a better game. So thrilled for SMU, that program, June Jones and everyone that's stuck with the thing for this long. That's a marquee win. A better win than a couple of years ago. In Fort Worth and the Frogs (although down this year) are better. So are the Ponies.
June Jones is genius for moving J.J. McDermott into the starting quarterback slot. Zach Line is simply fantastic (127 against the Aggies, 119 against TCU). You just don't roll into Amon Carter and put 461 yards on the Frogs. At least not against Gary Patterson's squads.
Arkansas 42, Texas A&M 38
Like Baxter eating the entire wheel of cheese, you can't even really be mad. Rarely will you see a meltdown like this. Especially two straight weeks. Rarely will you see a team rush for 381 yards and allow 71 yards and lose the game.
If what we've been told is true, teams that lose it in the second half are either physically or mentally unprepared for that final 30 minutes. I think it's pretty safe to assume that this is the Texas A&M Aggies, at least for this season. This is a good football unprepared to finish out a game. Why Ryan Tannehill even came close to attempting 35 passes, considering the way the Aggies were running the ball, is a mystery. Turnovers have murdered this team. Simply murdered them. Poor, sweet Aggies.
Kansas State 36, Baylor 35
Baylor has no one to blame but themselves. No offense to the 4-0 Wildcats, but Baylor had three turnovers, five sacks, eight penalties and K-State absolutely stymied their run game. RGIII had a good game, but he had nothing going running the ball. Baylor's Kendall Wright has 40 catches in four games.
Texas 37, Iowa State 14
I think its safe to say that the Longhorns have a little of their mojo back. Iowa State's not a huge foe, but it was on the road and the Cyclones were undefeated. I mean, there is a 75 percent chance that a Blaine Gabbert .... errrr .... Garrett Gilbert-led Longhorn team loses that game. Instead, it was 34-0 at half. An extremely easy win.
Oklahoma 62, Ball State 6
That was unfair.
Texas Tech 45, Kansas 34
Wow. With four minutes left in the first quarter, the Jayhawks led 20-0. With 11 minutes left in the SECOND QUARTER, the Raiders led, 21-20. Tech is 4-0. The strategy is simple: Score more than the opponent. One day this season, they won't. But I don't think anyone foresaw Tommy Tuberville having such a balanced offensive attack. Kansas is unbad.
Tulsa 41, UNT 24
A pair of pick-sixes sunk the Mean Green. It got ugly early and never let up until it as too late. You can't always beat up on Big Ten schools.
Central Arkansas 38, SFA 28
What happened to my Jacks? Pre-season ranking in the top 15. Now they can't beat Central Arkansas? What in the name of Mike Quinn is going on?
