Why all the doom and gloom, brothers?

Maybe its the beard
The Texas Rangers were beat in game 3 of the ALCS last night, 5-2, and I don't really want to go into details here.

As much as we'd love to jump on Colby Lewis failing to go six or allow no runs or Koji Uehara failing to keep the Tigers at bay, the fact of the matter is that Doug Fister pitched a hell of a game and the Rangers hitters could get nothing, and the one time they had him on the ropes -- first inning -- they couldn't fully capitalize.

It's a 2-1 series now, and I have zero idea why everyone is doom and gloom. Did we really think the Tigers wouldn't win a game, at home, in a veritable must-win situation? Did we think the Rangers were going to sweep?

The Tigers are a fucking hell of a team and they were not going to simply lay down as the Rangers marched through their ballpark. They're as feisty and hungry as any guy on the Rangers' 25-man and that should not be forgotten. All you need is one in Detroit. There's another in a few hours.

What I'd like to talk about is how every media member in Dallas-Fort Worth is suddenly turning their backs on Michael Young.

Listen, I've never been a Young fan. I think he's sort of a turd. You can bitch and complain so much in each off season before I start to sour on you. As I remember, I wasn't the only to pronounce Young's trade grumblings as being petty and dumb.

Mid-season, as Young's hitting .340 and putting up career numbers and shit, everyone's back on board. Talking about how Young's the consummate professional and ideal teammate.

Bull. Shit. Young's as much of a self-serving asshole as he was when he was clammering for a trade. He's no different and if the Rangers attempt to add a bat in the off-season, he'll bitch some more. Trouble is, bitching about your role on a World Series contender is dumb.

Young wanted to win all these years, but he didn't want to win on other's terms. He wanted to win on his terms. And that included him playing shortstop or third base. Doesn't work like that because you are a detriment to the team. Young is selfish.

Fast forward to the last two weeks. Young's hitting like shit. Last night resulted in three soft groundballs to shortstop and a strikeout.

I'm not here to say that Young's in a bad place. I am here to say that due to a seven-game slump, I don't think you knee jerk and start moving him around the order. For one, where do you put him and how would this affect the other hitters who might be in a zone? Do we not have faith in our consummate professional and big-league hitter?

Apparently not. Ron Washington knows what to do, I think, and if he thinks there needs to be change, then that's up to him. From my point of view, what is happening now won you 96 games and a ALDS.
