David Buehler was placed on injured reserve this week. The kicker was kept on the roster the entire season despite A) missing a number of games due to a bad hamstring and B) the emergence of Dan Bailey has a legit NFL kicker.

Following the move, Jerry Jones went public in sort of blaming Buehler on his own injuring, insinuating that Buehler didn't take care of his bad in conditioning or coming to the season in shape. Nothing is clear.

As tough as it seems to get to the Super Bowl, I am pretty convinced that the Dallas Cowboys will never reach this tier of greatness as long as Jones is the key decision maker with the franchise.

Not that he's not wrong. Buehler might be a lazy asshole that wasn't in shape and the toll of kicking footballs 60 yards and whatnot. Certainly, Buehler's a douche.

Still, who the fuck goes public with that information. I've never heard or seen Bill Belichick, Andy Reid or Mike Tomlin openly criticize a kicker's conditioning. You can hardly get really anything of value out of those guys more or less a sound byte where you take a former draft pick to the mat.

Thing is, fans go into every season with hope. Certainly, the talent on this team is often mind blowing. Yet, they have not put together a legit contender and I don't think they will as long as Jones is making the biggest decision.

Five things:

Turnovers
The winner of the turnover battle typically wins the game. For the Buffalo Bills, it's the only way they've gotten off to the 5-2 start. Their turnover differential is phenomenal, a certain credit to the Bills' defense and their offense's ability to keep the ball. Anyway, it's a big reason they have such a nifty record. The Eagles game alone is probably a direct result of causing or jumping on bad turnovers. Keep the ball and maybe cause a couple of turnovers yourself and you take away (literally, figuratively) a huge ingredient in their recipe for success.

Fred Jackson
Jackson was good before this season. He just wasn't the full-time back. In fact, he was a part-time back on a bad team. Still, he managed to get upwards of 1,000 yards a season and salty yards per carry. I don't think its a coincidence that the Bills have made Jackson their horse and their doing this well. Again, football is not a game is islands. Everything's connected. It's amazing what a good running back can do for an offensive line and quarterback that are suspect or struggling. Just see the Dallas Cowboys of the last three weeks. For the third straight week, Rob Ryan's vaunted run defense faces a mighty competitor following two weeks of failing against LeSean McCoy and Marshawn Lynch.

Homefield
The Cowboys won the division two years ago with a 6-2 record at home. Last year, they bottomed out with a 2-6 record at the DeathStar. They are 3-1 at home this season with an excellent shot at going 4-1 in the early going.

'Must Win'
I said games against opponents you are probably better than are "must wins." If this team is well coached and they truly believe they have the talent to make the playoffs, then you win this game today, no questions. It's a good, decent Bills team. Not a great team. A team with as many holes as most, probably more than the Cowboys. This is a stretch where you need to pile wins. This is no exception. Lose this one and you look back at 8-8 and wonder "what if?"

Dez Bryant
Is he more Michael Irvin or Terrell Owens? Each week is another chapter.

Prediction
Dallas Cowboys 34, Buffalo Bills 27
I got a feeling. I can't explain it. I'm nor more confident in the Cowboys than I am the Bills or any other team. I think there's something to playing at home. I think the Cowboys have a little confidence. I think roles are established and I think, from week to week, they play harder than at any point in the Wade Phillips era. Playing hard gets you the coin-flip game where it could go either way.
