Texas 52, Texas Tech 20The question is whether Texas is back. The question is whether you can now trust Texas against flawed teams. This is a huge step for them. Suddenly, the Longhorns are playing smashmouth, SEC football. Ironic because they're one of the teams not moving to the super-conference. The solution is simple: Only allow your young quarterbacks to throw the ball eight times, rush for 439 yards without their leading rusher (Malcolm Brown). Joe Bergeron ran for 191 yards. This was methodical and paced. The worst kind of ass-whipping.
Oklahoma 41, Texas A&M 25
Fact: Texas A&M is the worst third-quarter team in the nation. Nursing a 13-10 deficit at halftime, A&M was right there. Then they produced two interceptions, four punts and a missed field goal and were outscored 28-0 in the third. It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't at least in the game.
Baylor 42, Missouri 39
The Bears gained 702 yards and won by a field goal after allowing 25 fourth-quarter points by the Tigers. Robert Griffin III threw for 400 yards and no interceptions. Terence Ganaway ran for 191 yards including an 80-yard touchdown.
Oklahoma State 52, Kansas State 45
Give credit to the Wildcats: They gave the No. 3 team in the nation all they could handle. This was a 45-45 game with four minutes left in the game. The Cowboys spent most of the second and third quarters coming back on K-State. The Wildcats showed you can run on Okie State and that you can keep up with them if you hold on to the ball. For K-State, it was right there. They might wake up feeling pretty sick to their stomachs.
SMU 45, Tulane 24
The Mustangs get to six wins. Nothing wrong with that. Zach Line having a superb season now over 1,100 yards and 17 touchdowns. A banner year for him and the Mustangs.
TCU 31, Wyoming 20
Sloppy. TCU commits five turnovers. Against better teams the Frogs lose this game. Instead, they're 7-2 and getting zero respect. Need to beat someone. They'll have their shot soon enough.
SFA 69, Lamar 10
Suddenly, the Lumberjack offense is back and they've won three straight. Granted, you have to consider the competition (8-19 overall). But these are the teams the Jacks should be beating by 59 points even if they were 8-0 themselves.
Iowa State 13, Kansas 10
If I didn't think SFA could beat Kansas, I'd put this game higher. I will say this for the Jayhawks: I don't recall a game in which they've been out of it by the first quarter.
