If it weren't for the jersey and for the colors, I'd completely hate the Dallas Mavericks.

Owner and (let's face it) general manager Mark Cuban is not talking to the media, much like he did last season.

Granted, I typically applaud when Cuban doesn't talk. When did his current vow of silence start? Before game one? After game two?

Nope, neither. It was as of after last night's massacre at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder. It appears that Cuban doesn't really want to answer for the debacle that is the 2012 Dallas Mavericks or why the starting center is averaging 10 minutes a game. Turdburger.

Now, he started last year's silent treatment at the end of the opening round win over Portland. Maybe he was going to do the same thing time. I just assume he's looking to dodge any attention. Wasn't it Cuban that said that bad press is still good press?

No doubt Chuck Cooperstein loves his job. He is the radio play-by-play man for the Dallas Mavericks. It's a preemo gig.

He went a long way to keep it.

Cooperstein, on Twitter, announced his vote for the Defensive Player of the Year, which was won by former Maverick Tyson Chandler.

It surprised no one that Cooperstein voted for Shawn Marion. I assume this would happen all over the NBA: A homer voting for a player that he not only sees all the time, but clearly wants to promote. I would knock Coop for his vote (I don't think Marion, a very, very good defender, was the Defensive Player of the Year), but he's not doing anything that a dozen other guys aren't.

I do knock Cooperstein for not even giving Chandler a vote.  His explanation:

"Chandler is a great defender but wasn't any different than he was w/Mavs last year. No one had a better defensive year than ."

Yeah. That makes no sense whatsoever. His reasoning, basically, is that Chandler is as good of a defender this season as he was last year, which may be true. And he acknowledges that Chandler was a very good defender last year. So, Chandler is a very good defender this year.

However, with that reasoning, you have to consider whether Tony Allen or Dwight Howard are just as good this year as they were last year. As far as I've seen, they're just as good and they are good defenders.

Here's my point: I don't follow Cooperstein on Twitter. I  get all of my Mavericks media spin from Mark Followill and Skin Wade. I don't need any more.

How did I read about his Defensive Player of the Year vote?

Mark Cuban -- owner, boss -- re-Tweeted it.

Naturally, I have zero idea whether Cuban had any actual influence on his announcers and public employees. I think it's safe to assume that they are encouraged to disseminate positive statistics and notes. Those guys pull out some of the craziest/dumbest stats, lipstick for the hog.

Again, voting Marion is OK I guess. Not including Chandler at all seems mandated from the top.

Don't worry boys! Deron's coming! Right?
