The Dallas Cowboys were forced to cut their roster down to 53 men today.A lot of big to large names fell to the cutting-room floor and a number of names were kept on board.
Don't fear, some will be brought back for the practice team, others will find gigs elsewhere and, who knows, maybe these guys will find their way on the roster after injuries come about.
Those who made it:
Tashard Choice
Despite playing one pre-season game and not seeing a ton of practice time and despite the Cowboys drafting DeMarco Murray, Choice was picked.
Phillip Tanner
Took four pre-season games to impress the Cowboys too much for him to go.
Alex Albright
To tell you the truth, I couldn't tell Albright from the man on the moon. He is one of four undrafted free agents to make the team, the same amount as last year.
David Buehler/Dan Bailey
Between five guys, someone had to make it. Buehler is the kickoff specialist and Bailey is the field goal kicker. For now.
Jesse Holley
The guy won't die.
Those who didn't make it:
Igor Olshansky
His days were numbered. He was dropped to second team in pretty short order and never found a foothold in Rob Ryan's defense. Olshansky, really, never found a foothold in Dallas. A Wade Phillips guy, I would not be shocked to see him in Houston.
Lonyae Miller
Proof that any undrafted kid can break into camp, make enough noise and make the team. That's the opposite of Miller. He came in with all the hype, but left without a roster spot.
Brandon Williams
The 2009 is a disaster. Twelve guys taken, mostly for the idea of special teams and just four (Vic Butler, Buehler, Stephen McGee and John Phillips). What a waste.
Shayne Graham/Dave Rayner
Thoughts were that maybe Graham won the kicker's spot by not attempting a thing the other night. Rayner, certainly, probably lost his opportunity by kicking the other night.
Akwasi Owusu-Ansah
Some way, you need to make fourth rounders work. Owusu-Ansah was taken in the 2010 NFL Draft and spent the last two years completely unimpressing everyone.
Josh Thomas
A little surprising. Thomas is one of two 2011 draftees (Shaun Chapas) cut today.
Tysson Poots
I just wanted to type "Poots" one last time.
