Desmond Jennings deposited Mark Lowe's change-up into the outfield stands in the bottom of the 10th inning yesterday taking the series from the Texas Rangers 5-4.Depressing because you could've gotten the win, kept the California Angels at 3.5 games back, knocked a numeral off the magic number, capped off a comeback win against a brilliant pitcher (David Price) and come home riding high.
Take all that goodness and flip it. The Rangers limp into Arlington 2.5 games up on the Angels, the magic number is still 17 and all that comeback was for naught.
Still, there are things to like, I think, than there is to hate:
Ian Kinsler
Putting on a power clinic. In his last seven games, he has seven home runs and 11 RBI. Still, it was his error that allowed a run to score. Without it, extra innings may not be needed. He eclipsed the 100-run mark with Nos. 100 and 101. His career high is 102 from 2008.
Elvis Andrus
Collected a hit and two walks yesterday. In his last 10 games: 14 hits and 10 walks. His OBP is up to .343.
The Bullpen
Darren Oliver, Koji Uehara and Mike Adams combined for 2.1 IP, no hits, walks or runs and two strikeouts.
Derek Holland
Put together his third straight quality start for the first time this season. Undone by Kinsler's error, he went 6.2 IP and allowed six hits, three walks and struck out nine.
Dave Murphy
Has RBI in eight of his last nine and 11 RBI total in that stretch.
Mike Napoli
Four hits and a home run, gives him 24 on the season. RBI in his last five games. His OBP is .398 and his OPS is .995.
