“Miami is definitely a title contender. For sure, (Team president) Pat Riley is a great guy and what he’s done with the organization is tremendous. No question, they need a veteran shooter, a guy who can score besides LeBron (James) and (Dwyane Wade), and they know they can count on. I’m a guy that’s been in this league 13 years, (averaging) 15 points a night, easy. Off the bench or the starting lineup, it doesn’t matter. So I think I’d be an asset to them.”
Jason Terry is an asshole. I really didn't like him before last season, but I sort of came around on the guy after the title.
“My main goal was to come back and retire a Maverick. After no extension this past offseason, I figure it may be time for me to move on. But you never know… I would love to (continue) in a Maverick uniform, don’t get me wrong. But we’ll see what happens… They said they want me back. But you can say all you want, you got to show me. Like Jerry Maguire said, ‘Show me the money.’”
Barf. Barf. Barf. Baaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrfffffffffffff.
I don't want the asshole back. What self-respecting owner/general manager/fan would want the guy back. He's not that talented to begin with. His only talent is his ability to shoot, and as we witnessed last night, that can come and go (especially on the road ... shoots 14 percentage points lower away from Dallas).
He's a dick. I'm tired of him. All the drama this season from Lamar Odom to the injuries to Dirk Nowitzki's mindset to letting Tyson Chandler go ... and then we have to put up with one of the veterans acting like a complete asshole. Blow this shit up. It makes me tired, angry.
Win a title and suddenly this all becomes a fucking business. As fans, we were told for a decade about how this was a love affair. Cuban and Co. would go to any length to win and ultimately win a title. Despite all the many missteps along the way, we appreciated the effort. We knew that despite the deficiencies, that in the back of everyone's mind was winning a title.
Unfortunately, it was never about winning two titles. Nevermind the fucked up situation with Lamar Odom. That was a grenade lobbed in by the Lakers and no one's been willing to fall on the thing. Nowitzki, frankly, partied too hard. Cuban suddenly started to not only look at his ledger, but to consider how he was going to market his team in the post-Dirk apocalypse (Note: It's my contention getting Dwight Howard and Deron Williams in the off-season had nothing to do with returning to prominence, but filling seats).
Now, Terry. A guy that most people loved and adored and took up for despite the fact that he didn't play an ounce of defense his entire tenure in Dallas, he was making a lot of money for a very long time, often handicapping the Mavericks in free agency, and that the talking shit-showing up ratio was severely out of whack.
This, friends, is how we're being repaid. Bullshit leveraging for another goddamn contract. Ideally, the Mavs send him on his way after the season and no one wants his overrated ass and he retires to Seattle or wherever the fuck he lives.
Oh yeah. The Heat bent the Mavericks over their knee last night and spanked the shit out of them. Much like a double murder, it was not pretty.
